GAMEPLAY (7 / 10)

In HordeZ, the player(s) must fend off (big fat) zombies, clowns and demon skulls using guns, swords and grenades as the game moves them through levels. Multiplayer is also available up to 4 players per game. The gameplay is straightforward and simple where players will be automatically moved through the stage and fighting incoming zombie hoards until they reach the end of the stage or time. HordeZ has decent gameplay, but lack elements of engagement.

AVG. PLAYTIME (8 / 10)

HordeZ has pretty good average playtime with several stages and environments the player(s) can choose to play in. The time per stage is adjustable from 5 mins and up to infinite time (survive till one dies). For a game designed more for the arcade style, the average playtime is very good.

PLAY AREA (6 / 10)

HordeZ claims that a minimum a Standing Space is required to play. While it sort of works for Single Player, there are issues with the multiplayer room scale that may require much more space than our standard recommended of 2m x 2m. Players will overlap each other on one point

GRAPHICS (7 / 10)

Graphics are pretty good, making players feel they are in a horror game as well as the details to the hoards of the undead. Though the sounds could have some improvement in making the game more engaging.

HordeZ is more or less a fair zombie VR game. It’s not a fantastic zombie VR game but in its design, it’s a good and easy title for any VR arcade or event that anyone new to VR can adopt to (other than the horror). The game has received generally very positive reviews on Steam and occasionally anyone new to this game has gotten themselves rolling due to its horror and hoards of zombies.
